Clea Stammler

One of Clea’s strengths is being an advocate for others. “I have always stood up for what is right and for people to feel safe, heard, and understood. I think it is important to not only be an advocate for oneself but to be an advocate for others, especially in communities whose voices are repressed.” Because she cares deeply about human rights, Clea looks for opportunities to expose herself to different experiences and cultures as a way of increasing her knowledge and understanding which she then applies to both her education and career ambition. “As a Global Health major, it is my desire to travel the world and truly immerse myself in these different communities because I know it will make me not only a better advocate, and better in my career, but a more knowledgeable person in the field. I believe my passion and interest will be extremely beneficial in the global health industry as I will have a more rounded global perspective and direct exposure to the priorities that need to be addressed in global health.”

On the local front, Clea is involved with the UC San Diego student organization “It’s on Us @UCSD” whose purpose is to combat sexual assault. The Eleanor Roosevelt College Provost Honors student also was selected to be the UCSD student ambassador for the Women’s Health and Empowerment program for the University of California Global Health Institute. “This is an incredible opportunity that I am proud of and excited to be a part of. This highly competitive program gives me an opportunity to make empowering changes on my campus and create valuable connections in the global health industry, advancing my achievements and potential in my future career. I continue to be a hardworking student dedicated to living a life and career committed to improving lives and communities.”
