About Town & Gown

Founded in 2007, Town & Gown is an official support group of the UC San Diego Foundation, a 501(c)(3) corporation.

Town & Gown hosts lively monthly lectures addressing the most interesting issues of our times, brought to you by the finest UC San Diego professors and researchers.  Each year, your membership helps us support a remarkable group of UC San Diego undergraduates with Town & Gown Scholarships.

Scholar selection is based on four criteria: a high grade point average (usually above 3.80), volunteer community involvement, a career goal that offers service to others, and high financial need. The Town & Gown Scholarship Committee reviews all qualified applications and conducts in-person interviews with the finalists.  The one-year, one-time awards, are $6,000 and typically awarded in May or June for the following academic year.

One of the most gratifying things about Town & Gown is the opportunity to change a young person’s life through the awarding of a scholarship.  These scholars, who are all exemplary members of the Triton family, represent the next generation of leaders, innovators, and decision-makers. We continue to follow their careers with excitement and with pride.

Town & Gown Mission Statement
