Lily Quach

Lily’s professional goal is to become a physician of family medicine and pediatrics. She feels that her ability to maintain the grades required to qualify for medical school is grounded in the realization that, “I have grown cognizant of and grateful for those who have pushed me through my academic career. I have learned to deeply respect and appreciate the efforts of my instructors and peers, who all teach me not only about physiology, physics and chemistry, but also about gratitude, benevolence and perseverance.”

Lily also deeply feels that the role her single mother and family of immigrants from Asia have played in her ability to realize her dreams. “My mother’s background is grounded in war, poverty and immigration. But through this, she has given me a priceless foundation of compassion, benevolence and diligence.” Lily is driven by the desire to relieve her mother of worry and by her hope that she will be able to provide her family with stability, care and contentment.

These are also her wishes for her future patients. “I hope to provide patients with the proper treatment, educational background and emotional support necessary in times of vulnerability. I hope that through my current research in the human metabolome, I can help the scientific community pave the way for effective forms of treatment, and ultimately create an ongoing cascade of newfound knowledge, tenacity and benevolence for generations to come through clinical work. Lastly, I aim to extend my aid to hospitals and clinics to provide children, their parents and other patients with not only physical and medical aid for reassurance, but also the emotional support and empathy required in times of uncertainty, vulnerability and illness.”
