In an early career move, Hillary was youth commissioner for the San Francisco Board of Supervisors. When the Municipal Transportation Agency announced a new fare increase she felt compelled to voice the unmet needs of the unrepresented youth in her district, and through her efforts the Board of Supervisors unanimously passed her resolution. She says, “Thanks to this initiative, 40,000 lowincome youth now ride the bus at no cost. Not only did the resolution reduce the financial burden of many families but it also provided lowincome youth with unrestricted access to public programs around the city and transportation to get to school on time.”
