Motoyuki Yoshihara

Born in Japan and raised in Massachusetts, Motoyuki Yoshihara dreams of broadening his horizons even further with the skills and experiences he’s gained over the years. Now in San Diego and a cadet in the Army Reserve Officer’s Training Corps, Moto is working toward a commissioned officer position while maintaining a 3.97 GPA at UC San Diego as an Economics/Political Science double major with a minor in Korean Studies. All that and personal obligations, too: Even as he focuses on his own academic endeavors, Moto has been doing all that he can to support his family, “who have been supportive in all my dreams. It is important for my college finances to be in order so that my brother and sister can pursue their dreams of higher education as well.”

It is his hope, he says, “to serve the people of my own country and help others throughout the world in the realm of foreign affairs.” He likes to think that one day he’ll see his efforts documented on his own Wikipedia page. “It is my hope that this page would have a ‘controversy’ section, as it is my firm belief that anybody who has done something greatly impactful would cross at least one segment of the population. I would like to be someone who has made an impact on society while still sticking to my own values.”
